I’m now just 6 weeks away from my first 1/2 marathon and I want to make sure I document it. I signed up for Ali Edward‘s Scrapbook on the Road class last weekend to see how she tackles travel albums and getting it done. I knew going into the album that it would be a 6×8 “insert” into my regular Project Running Album. (which is up to date, but it hasn’t been photographed since week 5 I think) I also wanted the album to have a cohesive look so I chose one collection to use throughout the trip and that’s Simple Stories Good Day Sunshine collection. I also shopped my own stash for the embellishments and stickers for the album.
To create the title page I cut down a 12×12 paper down to 6.25×8.25 (because the sleeves are slightly larger then 6×8. If I was going to do something completely flat I would have cut it to 6.5×8.5. I then dusted off my Silhouette and loaded up some vellum and cut a castle shape I bought shortly after getting my Silhouette and never used. I downloaded a font from the internet for the Disneyland and date. The geotag is from one of the shrunk down cards in the 6×6 pad I just cut it out. The wood veneer hearts are from Studio Calico and everything else is from Simple Stories.
I’ve bought almost all the different combinations for Snap page protectors, I didn’t get the 4×4/2×8 because I don’t understand it, and they’ll all be used in some way. I’m currently working on what I know I’ll want to document and picking out pages that I think will work like I know for the finish line I’ll want a 4×6 slot so I’ll plan that out. Then I’ll pick out the journaling cards for each page so I can take those with me to Disneyland and at night I can fill them out while the thoughts are fresh.
When I get home I’ll start printing my photos and laying out all the spots for photopass and marathonfoto spots. I hope that by planning it out and having a vision when I get back I can finish it up in just a couple weeks and not a couple of years like a few other Disney mini albums sitting on my shelf right now.
Thanks for stopping by,
