A recent layout I did for the April Sampler Kit Club.
I took this photo on One More Disney Day around 9am. I did do a bit of fun editing to to bring out the pink the tree. Which doesn’t come off well in the photo. I started this layout with one element. that small stamped “My Happy Place” banner. The black cardstock is 6×8. The butterflies are each a different medium. The smallest is a sticker I picked up in the Studio Calico shop, the pink one is a wood veneer one misted in Sunset and the blue is a mistable with Powder Blue.
The yellow button, twine, paper, and tab are all from So Cal kits. The title is the Stepping Stone alphabet with the HeyDay collection. I did the solid in Wet Cement and then did an off outline with the same soft pool I used for the banner stamp. The black button is a Jenni Bowlin that I picked up at my LSS a couple weeks ago.
This layout is for this weeks Lawnscaping challenge
I started this layout with a very different plan. I had the Lawn Fawn chevron paper cut to 8.5×11, the castle pieced from the 6×6 Bright Sides paper pad, and a bunch of stars and hearts cut out. The castle and hearts and stars are from Critters Ever After. I had a different photo in mind…but I decided to splatter the paper. I used Mister Huey’s Inky Black and Calico White. I then added some washi tape to the corner and then I realized my small square photo of Sleeping Beauty Castle wasn’t going to work. I printed this collage shortly after becoming addicted to Instagram. They’re my favorite photos I took over the course of 24 hours at Disneyland. I did the title with a chevron piece from the 6×6 pad. I left the centers in because 1 I was getting tired and that’s a lot of letters to fussy cut…and look at how many insides and 2 I like the solid look of the letters with the splatters. I added a tab with the year using Say Cheese too and a Jenni Bowlin punch. I added in the stars and hearts I cut before and it was done.
I’m thinking this will be the section front for all the One More Disney Day layouts I’ve done/will do. I have so many cute stories and favorite photos to share.
Does this count as using 20 photos or just 1?

I love love love this layout. I all started with the woodgrain paper in my May Studio Calico kit. I loved both sides of the paper and I was afraid for weeks to cut it. I trimmed it to 8.5×11 and I figured it would make me use it. I then started pulling some of my favorite pieces from the kit. The Hexagons were colored in powder blue, boss lady, and silver. I pulled one of my favorite photos I’ve taken in a very long time.
The page then came together so easily. I played around with some ideas for the title. When Walt opened Disneyland in 1955 he gave on opening speech, and thus the title/journaling was decided. “To all who come to this happy place” was done in Jillibean tiny text from my stash. Welcome was done with the thickers from the kit.

Sometimes the pictures and/or journaling can speak for themselves right? I mean a picture is worth a thousand words; so maybe adding more will take away from the story the photos tell. This layout is a good example I think. I started out by putting the photos into Lawn Fawn stamped image polaroids and adding a couple phrases from Say Cheese, too. Then I began to struggle. I started adding more frames with pp inside, one with a little journaling and started piling them on, but I didn’t like the look. Then I took some Echo Park Splash paper and ribbon and put my two polaroids down. I thought about adding a small title, but I love the way this looks sweet, simple, and it lets the photos speak for themselves. Alice and Mad Hatter looking on at the tea cups wanting to ride and then a photo of them riding and spinning. What more is there to say. I was at a distance so I don’t know much else other then the date (August 28, 2007) I can easily write that on the back. Do you think every page or layout needs a title or is it better from time to time to let the photos speak for themselves?
