Happy Valentine’s Day

I love love love this card. It’s simple, it’s me, and I know DH will just toss it in a pile, so this card is for me.  I finally replaced my crappy Ranger heat tool with the one Hero Arts offers Simon Says Stamp offers it.  It set this entire card in less then a minute. The arrow is from Basic Grey/Hero Arts.  I used gold metallic zing from American Crafts. The washi tapes are both new Glitz tapes and the love you is Lawn Fawn I don’t remember the name of the collection.   Honestly this card took me 5 minutes and that’s only because I had to dig through my alphabets and stamps to find the right sentiments.

I hope you have a great Valentine’s Day

Post CHA

I went to CHA last week and it was a blast. It was a trip of a lifetime and something I never thought I’d get the chance to do.  I got to meet so many new people, people I’ve adored and followed for years, and quite a few new friends. I got to meet Kelly Marie the owner and creator of Lawn Fawn. I love her stamps. I’ve already ordered 6 of the new sets + all the dies that match.

A few of my favorite products from CHA:

  • Plus 600 tape. I’ve been using the 720 pens for a little more then a year now and love them. The great thing about the 600 series is it feels just like those old Kokuyo I used to use and love.
  • Lifestyle Crafts Revolution machine. It’s just like the Big Shot, but it’s a nice grey and seems to have a slightly smaller footprint. While it’s not new this CHA a manual machine is new for me. I couldn’t be more excited.
  • Silhouette Chipboard! It uses the standard blade, but finally (as soon as I buy a manual machine) they make a chipboard that works!
  • Hero Arts Shadow Inks! They’ve released 7 new colors that are all great additions to the collection.
  • Basic Grey’s Hipster collection might be my favorite collection from CHA this year. It’s brown, retroish, and graphic.  They’re even starting to do their own wood veneers, and of course their die cut and transparency packs are a personal favorite.
  • Enamel dots were everywhere! I’m a dork for them. They’re quick, simple, and can add something great to the layout.
  • Washi Tape is still alive and well! I hope no one was hoping for that to go away. I think it’s the new ribbon and is here to stay for awhile.
  • Transparency and vellum seems to be making a comeback, Basic Grey has their die packs, Allison Kraft’s Webster Pages collections have new transparencies and I saw vellum die cuts in a few booths.
  • The We R Memory Keeper Envelope Punch Board was awesome! I tried one out and I didn’t think I needed or wanted one, but after seeing how easy it was to use and thinking of all the cool things I could do with it…well I want one.
  • Fiskars has a new trimmer out. The ProCision Rotary Bypass trimmer. It reminds me a lot of the old Making Memories trimmer. It’s not magnetic, not as heavy, and comes with a lifetime warranty. (I picked up one of these from Joann’s last week…review coming soon)

There was lots more that I loved, liked, meh, and disliked, but these were my top favorites.  I have a layout to share later this week and I hope to have a few reviews and maybe a few other projects…..like that December Daily that has stalled out at day 19.

CHA Summer 2012

the Craft and Hobby Summer show starts today in Chicago. Lots of companies have been showcasing their new collections online in the past week.  I’m just going to share a few of my favorites so far:

1. Studio Calico is releasing 6×8 albums! As someone who hasn’t started their wedding album yet, has plans to do December Daily this year, and thinking of this size for Project Life (which I still haven’t started) I need several of these) There are 3 designs and

2. Studio Calico is also coming out with my favorite Christmas collection of the fall. It’s holiday without being overly holiday.

3. Basic Grey’s Soleil which was designed by Sassafras!

So far those are the three things have I have to get my hands on. Other favorites include Studio Calico’s Yearbook , Dear Lizzy 5th & Frolic, Crate Paper Acorn Ave,  and Fancy Pants The Good Life.

I’m still on the edge of my seat for the reveal of the other 5 Lawn Fawn stamp sets,  Technique Tuesday stamps, October Afternoon releases, and details of the new Echo Park collections. Maybe if I cross my fingers there will be a red Hero Arts shadow ink for the holiday season.

Things I’m looking for: a paper collection to scrap my wedding pictures with, stamps and ideas for Christmas cards, and washi tape!

Thanks for reading and happy crafting! <3 Ann

Check out the Our Paper Place blog. Today  there’s a sketch challenge posted and I’m going to be blogging from time to time over there as well.

Mother’s Day part 2

This is the card I made, but didn’t send. I used Basic Grey’s What’s Up collection 6×6 pad. I love 6×6 pads so much. Great for cards, die cuts, and layouts. Well I started with the stripped background, the Echo Park stickers for the greeting and the Prima resin flowers. I had some leftover circles from another layout and I placed them across the card and added a couple of flowers and thought it was a cute card, but those flowers are very thick, not something I work with often, and I realized it wouldn’t mail well without a padded envelope and extra costs. If I still lived across the city from my family I’d put it in a card and be very careful while delivering it with flowers of the same colors for Mother’s Day.

I may remove the Mother’s Day greeting and turn it into a birthday card to send with a gift in the future. Sometimes that’s the great thing.. adapting. A little undo and I can change it up without any trouble.

Thanks for looking and happy crafting! <3 Ann

Happy Birthday Week

Welcome to the card inspiration week for February.  My plan is to keep my posts going for the next month during our move and getting settled, but I apologize now if I miss a Friday or two.

I made this card for my MILs birthday last week. I used a piece of 6×6 Basic Grey that I’ve had for awhile. I cut the scalloped circles with the Silhouette. I stamped and colored the flower pot from Lawn Fawn’s On the Mend stamp set.  The label is also cut with the Silhouette. I stamped the greeting with Lawn Fawn’s Sophie’s Sentiments. I added the brads after coloring them purple with a Copic marker.

Thanks for reading and happy crafting. <3 Ann

My card photography should be approving after the move. I’ve bought a new lens for my camera which should help me take better photos. I’m also hoping to have natural light in my place. Something I don’t have before.
